About the Swincar

Is the Swincar a real product?

YES!  The Swincar factory has been in full production mode since 2017, and we’ve had hundreds of test drivers at our various touring locations take them for a spin.  Here’s a reaction video from real guests!

Is this buggy made in China?

NO!    Swincars are built according to the highest manufacturing standards in an ISO certified assembly plant near Lyon, France.  Unfortunately, Swincars have caught the eyes of scammers and we’ve heard reports of a Chinese built “spider car” being sold online via Alibaba, and a Facebook scam selling Swincars for $300. Be careful, and don’t hesitate to give us a call or shoot us a message if you see a Swincar offer that looks too good to be true…

Why don't you build Swincars in the USA or Canada?

Buy a Swincar to help us grow!  When we have enough volume, we would love to start manufacturing Swincars in North America!

Can I charge a Swincar from a standard wall socket?

Yes! The Swincar charger is plugged into a standard wall socket, US Swincars are usually equipped with 110 volt chargers, although 220 volt charger plugs are available.  The outlet must be on at least a 20 amp circuit.

The Swincar charger may also be plugged into an inverter generator, or a solar charging generator with at least 1100 watts of power available.

How much maintenance do Swincars need?

Maintenance requirements are low. You should perform regular alignment checks to ensure that the articulating arms are in line and that the wheels are at the proper camber. You should regularly check the tire pressure, and occasionally you will need to tighten connecting bolts that will loosen over time from off-road use.   Additional information can be found in the Swincar Owner’s Manual.

How long does a charge last?

A charge is good for over 4 hours of drive time on the single seater, and about 3.5 hours on the tandem. On flat ground at approximately 20mph, you can go over 80 miles on a charge.   When travelling in hilly terrain, results will be similar, due to the regenerative braking capability.

How long does it take to charge?

From empty, the battery will charge in 2.5 – 3 hours.   If you charge up with one or two bars left on the battery meter, charging will likely take under two hours.

Do Swincars have any weight or height limitations?

The recommended maximum weight is 285lbs for the single-seat model, and a combined 500lb maximum load for the tandem model.

Riders that exceed weight capacities can still enjoy high speeds and respectable performance, but will likely notice a slightly lower top speed, reduced battery life, and some difficulty climbing higher-grade hills.

With regards to height, there is no manufacturer-specified maximum. However, exceptionally tall riders’ heads will sit higher than the top of the roll bar. This sets the driver up for a potentially dangerous roll scenario and it is not recommended that these individuals drive Swincars. Alternatively, owners can outfit vehicles with custom-fitted taller rollbars, and Swincar is looking to design a special adapter to increase rollbar heights by several inches. Contact ASI or your local Swincar dealer with questions or assistance in adapting your vehicle for taller riders.

Are Swincars street legal?

They can be! Laws and regulations vary by state. However, in most areas, as per recommended federal guidelines, Swincars equipped with headlights, brake-lights, turn signals, rear-view mirrors, windshields, and required registrations can be classified as low-speed electric vehicles and driven on two-lane roads with speed limits listed under 35mph.

Consult with your SwincarUSA sales rep.

Is it possible to roll/flip a Swincar?

Yes. It is possible to roll a Swincar, although doing so is difficult compared to traditional off-road vehicles. The pendulum design and low center of gravity make the Swincar an incredibly stable vehicle, even when traveling across steep grades. In three years of offering commercial Swincar tours in Chattanooga, TN, Adventure Sports Innovation has seen only a handful of rollovers and no resulting injuries.

How fast does the Swincar go?

The top speed is approximately 20 mph.   Swincars are designed for fast acceleration – with just over 2 seconds from zero to top speed – and power over obstacles and difficult terrain.

Are Swincars covered by a factory warranty?

Every Swincar comes with a manufacturer warranty of two years (or 150 hours) on the battery, and one year warranty that covers any defects of construction or materials. This does not include normal wear and tear items such as tires, control cables, brake pads, shock absorbers, etc. except in the event of an established manufacturing defect.

Is there a two-seater model?

Yes! The Tandem swincar positions the passenger directly behind the driver to take full advantage of the pendulum design without any reduction in cross-country abilities. The open body-pod leaves ample leg room for passengers, while larger, more powerful hub motors take you everywhere that your single-seat can.

Swincars require little maintenance, but this program will prepare remote owners to perform the few basic tasks that are important to keep vehicles in top shape. See our purchasing page for dealer, service, and test-drive locations.

How long does it take to get a Swincar once I've decided to purchase?

For in-stock vehicles equipped with either “Standard” or “Touring” configurations, ASI can have a Swincar on your doorstep within a week. For non-stock vehicles (i.e. Swincars with significant customizations for special use) expect a lead time of approximately 90 days to account for assembly, inspection, and overseas shipping from France.

Is Adventure Sports Innovation the only company in the U.S. that sells and services Swincars?

Adventure Sports Innovation is the North America Distributor for Swincar.  We sell Swincars to individuals or businesses around the United States, and through our dealer in Canada.   We have already established a few locations for test drives, and are working to establish additional tour operations, dealerships and service centers in the U.S. and Canada.    Check out our “find a dealer” page for more details.

If you are interested in establishing a touring fleet of Swincars, or if you are interested in having a sales and service territory of your own, please contact us via phone or email. We are always looking for motivated partners to help us bring these vehicles to every corner of the country.

For Individual Owners

Is there anyone in the U.S. qualified to help with maintenance or repairs on Swincars?

Yes! Adventure Sports Innovation has spent over four years learning the ins and outs of these vehicles, and we have developed comprehensive training and support materials for new vehicle owners.   This will prepare you to safely operate and maintain the vehicle on your own.

New owner training can be completed at ASI’s Chattanooga, TN location, or on-site with your personal vehicle.     If you do not live within driving distance of our shop in Chattanooga, Tennessee, you can still purchase a Swincar, but you will need to receive a maintenance and care training with certified ASI staff either via video conference, or by having our staff deliver your vehicle in person and provide training.

After your training, you will have access to the full library of our Swincar maintenance how-to videos and detailed servicing manuals.  And of course, ASI’s Swincar experts are only a phone call away, and we are happy to provide remote support to our owners.

Once I order my Swincar, how long will it take to get here?

If ASI has inventory in stock to fulfill your order, we can generally have your vehicle delivered within 2 weeks.

If we need to order your vehicle from the manufacturer, you should expect an approximate 90 to 120 day lead-time after finalizing your order.

Swincars are manufactured to order, specially packed, and shipped from France via ocean freight, so plan accordingly.

After unpacking the crates, is there any assembly required?

Your Swincars will arrive almost fully assembled, however, you will need to attach the roll bar, steering wheel, seat, and seatbelt to your vehicle. Each of these operations will take only a couple minutes each, and you will be driving in no time!

Do you have real people available to help me after I buy a Swincar?

YES!   Whether you’re close by or far away, we can provide on-going service support, in person, remotely, or at our partner locations that will continue to grow around the country.

For Fleet Owners

The price of your new fleet will include a one and a half day on-site training with ASI staff. We will work with your team to help you master touring operations, as well as vehicle maintenance and inspections.

After your training, you will have access to the full library of our Swincar maintenance how-to videos, as well as ASI’s printed guide to fleet ownership. And of course, ASI’s Swincar experts are only a phone call away, and we are happy to provide remote support to our fleet owners.

Once I order my Swincar fleet, how long will it take to get here?

You should expect an approximate 90 to 120 day lead-time after finalizing your order. All Swincars are manufactured to order, packed, and shipped from France via ocean freight, so plan accordingly, and do not forget to leave time for your staff to receive ASI fleet training before your busy season begins.

After unpacking the crates, is there any assembly required?

Your Swincars will arrive almost fully assembled, however, you will need to attach the roll bar, steering wheel, seat, and seatbelt to all of your vehicles. Each of these operations will take only a couple minutes each, and you will be driving in no time! For fleet purchases, we usually aim to time our fleet trainings so that your certified trainer is present for the unboxing of your new vehicles.
